                                        EAST ASIAN STUDIES CENTER

The Concept Paper on Building a Network of East Asian Think-tanks (NEAT) was adopted at the ASEAN plus China, Japan and Republic Of Korea (10+3) Foreign Ministers' Meeting on June 12, 2003 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. According to this Concept Paper, China is responsible for its coordination work. In December 2003, Chinese Foreign Ministry designated China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) to be in charge of the coordination of the Network. Thus East Asian Studies Center was established immediately at CFAU to carry out NEAT-related research and the routine work.
Led by Prof. Qin Yaqing, Executive Vice President of CFAU, the Center is composed of qualified research fellows and assistants from related institutions of the University. It aims at assisting the operation of NEAT, constructing a platform for East Asian research, and providing a contact channel for the related academic circles both home and abroad.
